One L of a Time
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Kingston upon Thames.
- Thursday, 13th of October 2022
I left work on Thursday and cycled down the Thames path in the glorious autumnal sunshine, off to meet Mr L for a social visit mission.
It was a really lovely visit, and we chatted about a lot of stuff over a mug of tea each. Travels, astrology, painting, beer, carpentry, Ireland, hitchhiking, international girlfriends… It was fascinating for me to hear about all the adventures and antics Mr L got up to, and he enjoyed hearing about mine too. Time seemed to fly by, and before we knew it, out the window you could the sun was starting to set.
Mr L insisted I should leave before it got dark, and surprisingly we had been chatting away for over an hour. I washed up the teacups and we said our goodbyes: ‘Thank you Lucy for coming to see me’ and the he noted we shared an initial… ‘I’ve had one L of a time with you’.
I cycled home through the sunset in Richmond Park, filled with a sense of goodness, a new knowledge of the most pliable wood to make desks with and a ready made pun for my run report!
