Laura - Doing her 2nd mission and already covered 2 goodgym areas
Louise - Good gym traveller who traveled from East London and sneaking in a few missions with Ealing before heading off to the Goodgym annual party (with her 500th ?🤞)
Shwetha & Cherry- New additions to goodgym Ealing and doing their 2nd mission
Madhan - An Ealing goodgymer who woke up and walked straight to the task
Get the best foot forward
Laura, Steph, and I were the first to arrive and we've been asked to mark the park with seatings.
- Go to the location on the map
- Measure as per the diagram and put the stake
- Paint the lines using white paint markers
- Paint the numbers using red paint
Seemed simple when said. But the execution needed careful calculation and coordination.
75 multiplied twice and add thirty squared... Yes, it is approximately 80 - Mark
When marking, we had to calculate the diagonal distance from the sides of the rectangle to ensure we were marking them in a proper shape. There was mild confusion initially when the measuring lines doesn't intersect. We doubted the math and it was a silly mistake of moving the tape in the wrong direction.
High marks
Laura initiated the markings as she carefully strolled down the paint marker across the tape. Steph was leading the marking with another paint marker. Soon Shwetha joined us in the marking process. I was simply rolling and unrolling the tapes and guiding them on what they were already doing. I noticed another red t-shirt near the containers waving the banners. Could it be a goodgymer?, maybe or maybe not, I thought to myself and started taking action shots under the bright sun. It is Louise, who is fixing the banners. She was delayed a bit as the location in the task is pointing to somewhere else, though the address is correct.
Banner and Banter
I felt it was one too many for the marking task and thought of making better use of my time and went running towards Louise under shades, not because the sun was hot. Louise was not a fan of the first pic I took of her holding the banner as it was a banner for the toilet. We then corrected that with a community banner. We couldn't tie the banners to the poles as the threads were a bit short. Helen then gave us a box of old banners and we took out some threads from that and made a bigger thread to ensure the banners are secured to the poles. I noticed a new person joined the Marking group and wondering who that might be.
Louise is doing a double mission with Ealing today and sprinted to Soup kitchen first shift with Fay
Make sure you hit me properly next time - Polly, Hanwell Councilor
I accidentally hit Polly with the banners as we were moving them into the containers. We had 15 minutes left before the task ends. I took some cold water bottles to the marking group and they were doing very good progress
Finish line
It was Cherry who joined the marking group, probably after I joined Louise for the banner task. We had two minutes left and gathered the group for a group photo and I planned to leave. The marking guys are determined to finish the task at hand and decided to spend more time as I waved goodbyes to them.
The markers Steph and Laura went for their second mission of the day for the second shift of Ealing soup kitchen later this afternoon
