Not to blow my own crumpet!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Tuesday, 31st of March 2020
On a sunny but cold late afternoon, I went on my first shopping-in-times-of-corona mission. The list was short but very exact, as Mr T had some specific food restrictions. He told me he would understand if I didn't manage to buy everything, but at the top of the list were his beloved crumpets!
Making the most of my local supermarket knowledge, I first popped into the neighbourhood's Co-op, where the shelves were pretty bare and I only managed to buy one of the items on the list. The next stop was more successful: in spite of the queue to enter, once inside I was actually able to buy the rest of the list!
Another brisk walk along the river got me back to Mr T's house, where I returned the change along with all the items bought and instructions on how to disinfect them. After a quick (and socially distanced) chat, and an equally quick and socially distanced glimpse of the cat, we said our goodbyes. I was so pleased that the mission had gone smoothly that I only realised when I got back home that I had forgotten to do my own shopping!!
