No horsing around on this allotment!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Newham.

Here's what Mr P of E13 had to say about the mission:
"What a wonderful day it turned out to be. Peter, Hilary and Andy were the perfect match not only for the job but primarily for the boost it gave [Mr P] and me to tackle the task together with them. They had a very good and clear picture of the task that needed doing and executed it so brilliantly. They made the job look so easy peasy. The atmosphere was perfect - the weather, the banter, the conversation with other allotmenteers made the time fly by so fast. A plot holder later met up with us and was full of praise for the work your mission delivers on. The allotment looks so much bigger and tidier now. On behalf of both of us please pass on our very grateful thanks for giving us such a lovely day. We will send you pics once the allotment is in full bloom.
Pieter, Andy and I met up this morning to lend a hand to the lovely Mr P and Mrs S on their allotment. They've been working on it for about three years and have made a lot of progress, but a big compost heap was in need of taking down and the contents distributing around the allotment. On our group runs in Newham we're often redistributing a pile of mulch over at Hackney Marshes adventure playground, so this felt like familiar territory, albeit with a manure based substance instead.
Having got the structure down and compost out, it was time for a coffee break and a chat with Mr P and Mrs S, and some of their allotment neighbours, who were interested to see what we were up to. We then got on with laying down some pallets where the compost heap had been and also laying out some paving for a path. Turns out Andy and Pieter are expert at deploying the well known leap-up-and-land technique of bedding down the slabs, impressive to watch! A few rotten pallets were broken up and bagged for disposal, then we were on our way following a productive and most enjoyable mission. Mr P and Mrs S were very grateful for our efforts, hopefully it'll be looking great in the summer, bearing lots of fruit (and veg).
