Mission: IM-possible
4 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Sunday, 19th of February 2017
Four runners from around London met up at Mr P's house in Southwark on Sunday morning. Well, three runners and one cheeky cyclist. James Gilbert was in the middle of his long run, having run over all the way from Newington Green.
We located the house (a slightly surprising entrance), and Ruth remarked that it should be a fairly straightforward mission, a simple case of moving a sofa out of the living room to upstairs, and we joked that it might end up being like the famous "pivot! Pivot! PIV-OT!!" episode of Friends.
We met Mr P's son who was there looking after his dad for the day, and had a chat with them both about the task at hand. We made quick work of lifting the huge three-seater sofa out of its current position and towards the doorway, but sadly no amount of pivoting was going to fit it out. We had to admit defeat, realising that the sofa had got into the room through the French windows, and Mr P couldn't find them.
So back in the sofa went, pivoting all the while. We'd not achieved our mission, but it had got us out of bed and doing some exercise on a Sunday morning!
