5 runners ran 2km to marshal at Eltham Junior Parkrun!
What a lovely wholesome Sunday morning spent cheering on the kids and parents at Eltham Junior Parkrun! Welcome to new runner Maria and big thanks to my lovely Greenwich regulars making today happen!
The marshals briefing took place just before 9am and we were all assigned our VIPs (very important positions). I was fortunate enough to witness the main runners briefing where two hardworking kids got their milestone wrist bands! 11 events earns you the blue half marathon wristband, 21 gets you the green marathon wristband and 50 events gets you the ultra marathon orange wristband! Such a wonderful thing!
After a quick warm up, the kids were off!! We knew we had to get to our starting positions quick because some of those runners are FAST! 2 laps of the rather muddy park and countless high fives later, all 77 children passed through the finish funnel!
We packed up all the stuff and then it was OUR time to run! We did a similar course to the kids except we stuck to the path, no need to get the shoes muddy if we can help it! 2 laps and 2 chatty kilometers later and we were done!
Nice work everyone! Thanks for all your help, we had a fair few people drop out of today so your time, effort and energy is very much appreciated! Hopefully see you all soon!
