making tracks
10 GoodGymers made their way 6km to help their local community in Sheffield.

10 runners ran 4KM to lay wood chip on 100 meters of woodland path at Heeley City Farm.
Despite freezing temperatures and horrible rain, our gallant Sheffield Goodgym volunteers did a fantastic job of laying wood chip at the farm. The farm is a regular task location for us and it is brilliant to keep coming back and see our work from previous weeks.
We started our evening with a gentle jog to warm us up. The weather was cruel, but as always there was the usual buzz in the group as we all chatted happily. On arrival we retrieved the tools from our secret hideout on site and began work. At first glimpse the mountain of wood chip seemed pretty daunting so we gave ourselves 40 minutes to see how much we could shift................ 20 minutes later we had moved the entire pile. What an effort from everyone.
We always do some fitness
Tom took the group over to a neighboring hill and did some hill reps with the group. This was very welcome as it warmed up our soaking runners. It is worth pointing out that morale stayed high throughout the task and the fitness section, which is a credit to everyone- we salute you
Can we go home now?
We then headed back to the Copthorne for a stretch and some more chatting. We focused on the main muscle groups and made sure everyone was nice an limber ready for a productive week.
A huge pat on the back to everyone who came out in the bad weather. You were immense
Next week we are back at Sharrow Community Forum. This is a painting job, but outside this time. Please remember this when choosing your outfits. Sign up here
afterwards we will be heading off to the pub for some lemonade and peanuts. This will be Steve's final group run as leader, so there may even be crisps
GoodGym would like to extend a massive thank you to the South Yorkshire Housing Association and the Ageing Better fund for funding us and the Copthorne Sheffield for providing the start location for the run.
