Making a bit more broom
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hounslow.
- Friday, 27th of March 2020
Alan, Kate and myself had signed up to help Mr. D move back in from a stay at the hospital. Alan and I arrived a little early and went in with the care professional, Nicola, to size up the flat. Kate arrived soon after, and Alan and I started off with removing a two-person garden chair from the room, which took a bit of pivoting, but since it was light we managed to get it in the front garden quite easily. We then moved the mattress and bed base bit by bit, all of this to be picked up for recycling, creating space for a hospital bed, equipment and a wheelchair.
Kate carefully swept up the dust and debris underneath the bed, I gathered some boxes of medication that were placed around the room, Alan and Kate grabbed the microwave and kettle from the kitchen and put these on the coffee table for easy access, along with a coffee maker that was on one of the shelves in the bedroom. We removed some other items that were a little precariously placed on top of a shelf above the bed, to ensure the people moving the new bed in would have enough space to manoeuvre.
A quick and easy task which took about 30 minutes all in all, but we managed to create lots of space in that time that will hopefully help the moving in process.
