Bank Holiday Monday - what better day to #useyourrun! It's been one of the hottest bank holidays in recent times but did that deter our fantastic group of 8? Not a chance. We were even lucky enough to welcome a new-comer Sarah to the Tower Hamlets group run - a Parkrun traveller and expert gardener, as was demonstrated on tonight's task. We set off along the canal towards Shrubland TRA in London Fields where we were given a bit of history of the area and the project by the wonderful task owner, Peter. We then split into two teams; Miranda, Sarah & Neil set about weeding the allotment area whilst Bryon, Ed, Michael & Chris formed a super-effective group charged with shifting dozens of bricks from one site to another. The bricks will be used to build an outdoor pizza oven - yet another tool to help encourage the community to get involved with the garden by teaching, sharing & encouraging cooking as well as learning how to grow the ingredients. After the brickwork was done, we all teamed up to finish off the weeding (see before and after photos) then we finished our evening with a 2km run along the canal under the setting summer sun. A lovely way to spend the evening & thanks to all those who came! Great work!
