What a banging start to 2024! Not only Damu’s first GoodGym Newcastle good deed but Debbie's 100th!
After a well-earned Christmas break we were back at it tonight with a litter pick around Ouseburn. I’ve shared my “don’t forget” note I wrote myself today in the photos as it’s a classic GoodGym list. The session tonight forms part of our January litter pick relay in which we are going to attempt to clear up a different place every day in January.
It was a relatively calm and clear night until the rain started hammering down- a classic Newcastle night. We welcomed Damu to the group and set off first up Stepney Bank, covering two of the car parks, then heading back down and eventually towards the quayside. All manner of treasure was collected including a lipstick and a clothes hook, as well as the standard post new year beer cans and the blight on every street right now- disposable vapes! By the end of the session bags had been collected from a relatively small area.
As often happens the topic of conversation turned to parkrun- this seems to always be something GoodGymers can bond over! From the mountains (!) of Jesmond Dene to the massive numbers of Bushy Park, we had a lot of good stories to share.
We are back with so much good stuff this January and we’d love to see you. Bring a friend to the beginners session on Saturday if you can, we’d love to see you.
Huge congratulations to Debbie again on 100 times of being brilliant with GoodGym.
