A brisk 2k run to parade HQ was the perfect way to work off my RftS butter bean stew and it was nice to have the chance to have a bit of a chat to Abigail about how her actuarial studies were going. All sounds exhausting to me, but great that there's still time for a Tuesday GG run.

At the HQ we were assigned our various stewarding roles. Irena was handing out wrist bands, I was Malcolm's runner/ megaphone holder, Caroline was ballast for the amazing dragon fly lantern and everyone else was on crowd control.

Conditions were fairly mild at first but after an hour or so the temperature dipped and extra clothing was being borrowed!

It was all worth it to see the lanterns though. The local schools get together with professional artists to design them and there was a really impressive owl, bear (possibly Winnie the Pooh but Sarah had doubts - unless piglet was purple!) and ginger bread man.

The Lantern parade has been going for 6 years now and is a fantastic community event, great that we were able to support them today
