Laurel and Holly…and some Birch
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 29th of December 2018
Barbara and I ran to Mrs T’s house to help cut back trees and shrubs which were overgrowing on to the footpath in front of her house. Mrs T has tried herself but is visually impaired and required some assistance.
Quickly we set out lopping away any of the branches we could see. We were provided with many tools including the extendable loppers we have heard so much about from a previous mission here; they took a bit of effort to actually get branches cut, but we got them to work in the end.
After enough branches were cut down, I was then on “Bagging” duty whilst Barbara was in charge of “Lop…lip…loop…lopping!” so they could be bagged and taken away. Whilst the Laurel and Birch were easy enough to put away, the Holly proved more difficult due to the obvious sharp bits which tore the bags and got stuck to Barbara’s laces! However, 10 bags and a full green bin later, we cleared the area.
Also thanks Nick for helping move some of the bags at the end of the task!
