What better way to start the weekend, than to lend a helping hand to someone in need? Mr L had a prescription waiting to be collected, and I needed the motivation to get up and out. It would have been so easy to stay in bed, following a tough, hill training session the previous evening, thanks Char
The benefits of carrying out a mission are obvious, for the recipient, but those for the runner (or rider), are often overlooked. For me, there were many, including; * motivation to get out of bed early(ish) on a Saturday morning * another reason to get out on my bike * 8 miles worth of (free) physio for a dodgy ankle and foot * fresh air, sunshine and showers cycling through a Millennium Green * an opportunity to pick up some diy supplies, that I’d put off doing for weeks * a chance to enjoy free-wheeling downhill, at speed, the wind in my helmet...safety first 😉 ...to name but a few.
Mr L was very grateful to have his medication delivered, but also enjoyed the opportunity to have a chat. Having shopped for him previously, I was aware of his model making hobby and we spent some time talking about his latest projects. Mr L subscribes to monthly modellers magazines, but receiving parts once every four weeks is not enough to keep him busy during lockdown...so he currently has 8 models on the go 😮, ranging from motorcycles, to cars, to Star Wars characters. He said that it helps ‘to keep the grey matter working’...and it seems to be doing the trick...just what the doctor ordered, for us both!
