On a lovely summer's evening we met at Chiswick Town Hall, decided to forego the warm up for obvious reasons, and shot off towards our task at a local church.
A grand total of three minutes running later, we arrived at our task to find Carol waiting with an array of excellent tools and instructions to clear the outside area. The church is home to a number of teen and youth groups, so we were happy to help out making the area as welcoming as possible.
After a good bout of pulling up weeds, hoeing and clearing, Carol emerged with the king of tools, the big daddy, the tool we've been looking for all these years. It was a small, scythe-like implement that really did the trick with those pesky weeds in between the paving stones. Where have you been all this time?!
After a job well done, we set off on the run back to Turnham Green to do two rounds of tabata - one full body work out and one focussed on the core. After 8 minutes of intense effort, we rewarded ourselves with some nice stretches, cursed the bugs that wanted to eat us all alive, and called it a wrap!
Next week we're helping out at Cultivate London, I hope to see you there!
