two tasks
This week we were heading back over to Bruce Grove Youth Centre to get stuck into some more painting (we're already feeling at home as you'll see in the pics). There was a small catch in the shape of a small room / task area. After last weeks task proved a tight squeeze for a slightly smaller group the decision was made to arrange two tasks. The second task location was TChances where half of the group would be taking on a slightly overgrown flowerbed.
Task one
On arrival at Bruce Grove Youth Centre everyone got straight to it getting brushes and paint ready to go before a little more filling and sanding took place. After some prising of a paint tin (and opening it with bare hands) everyone teamed up and got another coat of paint on the walls. While painting we discovered one or two surprises lurking in the room which left us wondering what the young people had been getting up to prior to our visit.. one thing was for sure.. they were going about things in a ‘safe’ manner; or so we thought... it turns out the room is used for sex ed aside from being the careers room... hopefully the youths are taking heed in the lessons provided by the centre. Before long it was time to pack up but we all felt good about the progress we had made and look forward to our return.
Task two
After a very short run Varon dropped our little team off at TChances. We wasted no time in cracking out the gloves and green bags, then clearing out their patch of earth, carefully avoiding the lettuces and small memorial trees. Fortunately the weeds were all small runners, and not the type with deep tap roots, so we blitzed through it in no time at all. Taking advantage of the extra time, we threw in a quick run round the block to Down Lane Park. We split into two groups of three and had a quick continuous relay race, which team "over there" won. Analysing our techniques, Dashing Dave told us to focus on keeping our arms moving parallel to the legs, and not crossing the body, on the return run.
Once we were back, some went to have a quick look a TChances regular Wednesday Jam session, while the rest tidied up.
The Fitness session
After running a short distance back to TChances to meet the other group we re-grouped and headed towards the town hall with a little sprint before a quick round of circuits... Great effort here, guys. We then moved over to the leisure centre to warm down.
Shouts out to DD for the support and contribution to the report!!
