It’s Good On So Many Levels
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Saturday, 4th of April 2020
A beautifully sunny Saturday began with a virtual brunch with some other lovely runners and GoodGymmers. This is helping to fill the post-Parkrun brunch void in our Saturdays and provided a space to discuss fancy brunch cooking, Netflix bingeing, politics, self-haircuts, jigsaw sharing, virtual dating and even a bit about running.
Before stepping outside, I ran through my new checklist - Spare shopping bags, check. Face mask, check. Gloves, check. GG Shopping Reimbursement form, check. GG Essential Service Form, check. Adequate stretching given I haven’t left the house in three days…….check (ish).
Doing my best to be a Good Runner and keeping a wide berth as I approached people on the pavement, and making the most of the desolate roads, it was a decent run to get to Mr J’s. He’s in a high-rise and had asked for some help getting the shopping in. He also has the nicest Irish accent, and couldn’t have been more welcoming. Had to decline the offer of a cuppa for obvious reasons, and in the current situation Mr J was fine with that.
Clear shopping list in hand, I explored the entirely new-to-me market stalls of Queen’s Crescent. With people standing out in the street queuing for stalls and shops there’s more time to chat and ask how we’re all doing, which is lovely.
Zig-zagging between sellers I managed to get eeeeverything but one item, but Mr J was delighted and really grateful. Hope he has a lovely roast dinner.
Please note - market photo is for illustration only because I forgot to take photos while out and about - the pub is open because this is from the Before Times.
