It's all good in the wood!
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Friends of Danesmead Wood and Friends of Danesmead Wood in York.

A small but mighty group of Goodgymmers made their way to Danesmead Wood to meet Jude from Friends of Danesmead Wood. We had the task of moving three rather large and heavy logs across the wood to make seating in the clearing. We were glad to see the unexpected arrival of Graham as this left us with even numbers! Very useful for helping spread the load!
Soon we had picked out the most suitable logs and using ropes we got started with the task at hand. Speaking of hands we quickly discovered that rope burn was a very real risk and Val had left her gloves behind! After an attempt at fashioning a buff into a makeshift glove I realised I was actually only using my left one and donated my spare glove to the cause.
With the proper protection in place we were soon making excellent progress (apart from occasionally stepping on each others ankles and me leading the group astray!). It was noted that Graham was a fair bit taller than the rest of us, making even weight distribution slightly tricky.... He offered to try and shrink a bit, but we managed to make it work!
The logs were in their new position within 20 minutes so we jumped on the offer of a bonus task.. sawing up a fallen tree and adding it to the natural boundary fence. With only one saw, Emma was straight in and made excellent progress while the rest of us cheered her on. Taking it in turns we were done in no time and headed off for a quick team selfie with an abandoned panda hat... as you do!!
Another good deed done :)
