Into Marks', Get eggs, Go!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Wednesday, 29th of April 2020
Today's brief was to pick up some shopping for the lovely Mrs E, who is self-isolating for health reasons and is therefore unable to get out to the shops. I made a quick call to Mrs E to introduce myself and ask what she wanted, and was impressed to find she had prepared a list of items complete with prices - top organisational skills.
It took me much less time than I'd thought to reach M&S on Tottenham Court Road (which was Mrs E's retail outlet of choice) so I stopped for a quick stretch outside one of our regular Camden group tasks, the American Church, which runs a homeless shelter throughout the winter. Then it was straight into Marks' to pick up the goods for Mrs E, which was a breeze as there was no queue and there were hardly any other customers. They had almost everything she wanted - and we were able to agree on a couple of substitutions over the phone.
We had a quick chat on the doorstep (masked and at a distance of course!) after I dropped off the shopping - we were both grateful to each other as Mrs E was glad to have the shopping and I was happy to have had the chance to do something useful on my run and vary my usual route!
