In the thicket of it
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Luton and Dunstable Conservation Volunteers and Luton Borough Council Parks and Countryside in Luton.
- Sunday, 13th of November 2022
- Led by David Mansfield
Three Goodgymers met up to cycle 5k to the task and were joined by two more at Leagrave Park. The damp fog began to clear as we gloved up for another round with the brambles and overgrown blackthorn and scrub shrubs. After a briefing from the local conservation volunteer leader we joined in a group effort to cut back, drag and burn a raft of prickly and obstinate overgrowth. It didn't seem to take long to let in the sunshine and clear a substantial area within which some of the more diverse species of plant life could thrive. The bonfire grew bright and the saws and strimmer sang . . . . aah the sound of November.
