In the jungle, the mighty jungle ... we will sleep like lions tonight!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Saturday, 18th of August 2018
Two runners ran a short 2.5km to take on a mamouth gardening task for an isolated older person in Wandsworth. The weather was mild this afternoon which was just as well as there was a lot of work to be done on this mission.
We arrived at Ms Z’s to find that her back garden was extremely overgrown with weeds. To make the task harder there were also a lot of thick, spikes brambles throughout.
Ms Z was once a keen gardener but in recent years her partial blindness has made gardening difficult. We were delighted to be able to lend a hand so that she can use the garden again.
We had to cut through the brambles bit by bit so that we didn’t get too scratched. We filled 11 bin liners with garden waste and then took these to the front garden to a place where they could be picked up by the waste collection.
In the process we uncovered a chair, a ladder and the garden path, all of which had been completely covered with weeds.
Thanks to Ms Z for providing a lovely cup of tea!
