I think I've got a brambling habit
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Sunday, 27th of September 2020
Sam and I met up this morning to lend Mrs M a hand in her back garden. Turned out that Sam had previously visited to help sort out some IT issues, but it was a thornier task today, not too dissimilar to a gardening mission I did a couple of weeks ago, to clear a load of brambles so that Mrs M could get outside again.
On opening the back door, we took in the scale of the problem - having not been able to get out that way for a few years, greenery of the unwanted kind had completely taken over, from the doorstep to the back fence. Too much to do in one visit unfortunately, but we decided to make a start by clearing the area immediately outside the door.
We found an efficient method with Sam pulling up the brambles as far as possible while I released them with some secateurs that just happen to live in my pannier bag. A bit over an hour and a half later and we had a sizable collection of bags and a much clearer area for Mrs M to get out in. The back bit of the garden will have to wait for another time...
As I'd already used up the only bramble related pun I could think of for the previous mission report, I thought I'd get in touch with pun maestro, Liz, for inspiration. Of course within minutes, she came up trumps, so thank you Liz for your help with the report title! I wonder if outsourcing this aspect is the way forward?
Nice to see you today, Sam, catch you again soon :)
