I'm Still Sanding, After All This Time
4 GoodGymers made their way 6km to help the Rose Bowl in Islington.

On a lovely mild Monday evening (almost in daylight!), Area Activator Simon met up with Charlotte and Toyin at the Elizabeth House Food Hub for our weekly group run session. This time, we made our way up Highbury Park Hill and across Canonbury to The Rose Bowl Youth Club- one of our favourite regular task owners from before the pandemic times!
The lovely Dawn, who is the volunteer coordinator for the youth centre, was on hand to greet us upon our arrival (where we also caught up with Katie and Patrick). Our objective was to sand down about 10 benches between us, and then cover them with varnish, so they can be ready to be used over the Easter holidays. A perfect task for some fit and healthy Goodgym folks- lots of hands make light work! Simon, Charlotte, Katie and Patrick became the sanding team, while Toyin took control of the varnishing process- we worked as a super efficient team within our 40 minutes of solid DIY!
As we completed our tasks, Dawn took us all upstairs to show us the newest project for the Rose Bowl Youth Club- a really wonderful rooftop garden, complete with a BBQ, repurposed seating and green boxes full of herbs and vegetables made from old wooden pallets. We can't wait to return in two weeks time to lend a hand again!
