10 GoodGymers made their way to help the Thornhill Square Gardens in Islington.

10 Goodgym folks switched on their headtorches, and made their way to Thornhill Square Gardens tonight. Trainer Simon lead a social run to the park with Jackie and John Shirley, covering just over a mile across Islington. We were also joined by Anne, who had briefly returned to London from Scotland, and completed her 150th good deed this evening!
We were greeted by Anna, the resident gardening volunteer, who put us straight to work. Our main objective was to fill most of the flower beds with mulch and compost- doing the heavy lifting for the local gardening group to complete at a later date! We had two pairs of runners loading up wheelbarrows full of bark and mud, and tipping the contents across the beds.
A small team of Goodgymmers were tasked with raking and collecting up all of the fallen leaves from the access paths and from the beds themselves. Two huge skip bags were required to hold all of the green waste collected! Elsewhere, we positioned our portable spotlights in place to allow people to do some weeding by torch light, picking out some stubborn intruders from the rose beds.
We did a smashing job over the course of an hour, and Anna has invited us back as soon as we safely can. Hopefully this will be sooner rather than later!
