I can see clearly now the vine is gone
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Sunday, 11th of August 2019
Mrs L was unable to enjoy her garden because it was completely overgrown; her niece used to come and clear it for her, but she hadn’t been able to help out recently so it hadn’t had any attention in years.
I can see all brambles in my way.
Conroy and I decided to pick a corner and see how far we got, not knowing if we’d get round to tackling the entire garden. We started in the corner nearest to the back door where some overgrown brambles and vines had created an umbrella of green that was blocking most of the sunlight. It took us a while to pull it all down from such a great height, but it proved a very satisfying challenge!
It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day.
We thought we’d run out of energy before we got any further, but the opportunity to chop back a couple of trees spurred us on, and we’d soon cleared the entire garden. Mrs L had provided us with some bin bags for the trimmings, but we would have filled dozens by the time we were done, so we created a monster of a compost pile in a newly cleared area in the back corner of the garden. A job very well done!
