10 runners ran 6.2km to Mencap to clean windows
Our group of runners met at ARU Mildmay Gym, congratulated Rachel and Catherine on new running watches, and after a brief warm up made our way to the Mencap Centre. Gerry, Rich and Joel were clearly too fast for the rest of us, as we were split at a road crossing for a few minutes. They did some squats and lunges while waiting, the rest of us were having none of it.
We met Kevin at Mencap, who showed us the cleaning equipment, and more importantly the cupcakes which had been left for us. He left us to it, and everyone picked a window to get started on. Some of the group started outside, and some inside. The group were so efficient that all of the windows were thoroughly clean, and we didn't need to leave any details on which ones we hadn't managed. After we finished we treated ourselves to the lovely, well deserved cupcakes.
As promised, we headed to Central Park to have a go at a Ken Hoye special - the 1 mile time trial. David kindly offered to time keep and the rest of us sped off. Some took it more seriously than others, but I think we all enjoyed it! It was slightly shorter than 1 mile, however it was only for fun so I'm sure everyone will let that slide. Well done to everyone for taking part, and especially to those who got PBs.
Gerry left us in the park to set off home, and Joel and Rachel shortly after at the station. The rest of us ran back to ARU, did some stretches and said our goodbyes.
See you all next week!
