32 excellent runners do some serious gardening at Ruskin community garden before tackling a hill pyramid session. Then we ate cake
What a lovely evening! 32 wonderful GoodGymmers, old and new alike, celebrated Tom Hunter's 100th good deed with a lovely run to Ruskin Park, where the community garden needed our help. In the introduction Katie reflected on her first year at the helm of Lambeth - 1597 attendances = 798 hours or 33.3 whole full days of volunteering. IMMENSE! Well done team Lambeth.
The park is a couple of km away and when we arrived, Paula had many tools at the ready and we got to work. We had people turning the compost, others gave the big tree a haircut. We had a group of edgers, making the beds all tidy, like and also some excellent weeders amongst the tomato plants. Others collected all the garden waste and delivered it to the compost area. It was a well oiled machine that in 20-minutes had done so much it was hard to believe.
I can't believe it! Said Paula. 'You better believe it!' Said Lambeth
Then it was off for a nice hill pyramid session. The slow slope looked friendly at first, but after 7 laps up it, it turned into a veritable mountain climb. Everyone did an excellent job, however, and it was back to base for some lovely stretches and some brownies to celebrate John and Steve's 30th birthdays, which happened this week. Plus a trip to the pub for a well earned pint. Lovely stuff!
