High Approval Waiting
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Ealing.
- Friday, 27th of March 2020
When I arrived at Mrs D’s house I received the list of items requested and instructions for where they could be found. Before I left I saw her elderly neighbours sitting in their garden and they wished me luck on my mission to the shop which they have found very challenging recently. I asked if they needed anything too and they requested some milk. I first tried Wilkos for the dettol and antiseptic wipes. I had a half an hour wait to get in and then found mostly bare shelves. However, I was successful in finding a refill pouch of dettol liquid which Mrs D was pleased with! Next I went on to Sainsbury’s but changed plans as I didn’t seem to be getting anywhere after waiting in the queue (at a 2m distance from other queuers) for 20 mins. Boots was next and after the 45 min wait outside in the queue I was successful in finding the most essential supplies needed for Mr D who has dementia. Last stop before I delivered the supplies was a corner shop grocer that didn’t have much of a queue being managed (as I think social distancing guidelines were not being followed properly by some)! Once I’d found the milk, I had my backpack loaded and was ready to return to Mrs D and her neighbours. All were grateful and I declined kind offers of a cup of tea to get back home now that my morning of waiting was done.
