Hero in a softshell (jacket)
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Wednesday, 10th of June 2020
Today I ran to pick up a prescription and deliver it to Ms C, who is shielding at the moment and unable to leave her property.
There was a bit of light rain as I set out so I wore my rain jacket and cap. This meant when I arrived at the Boots and donned my face covering I immediately took on the likeness - and persona - of Shredder, the supervillain and leader of the Foot Clan.
As anyone steeped in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lore will tell you, it is precisely at the moment when the evil Shredder attacks that:
"These turtle boys don't cut him no slack!"
I've been turning those words over in my mind ever since I first heard them. What can they mean? If I become the Shredder, will the turtle boys cut me some slack? I've always hoped so. If it's true what they say, they are indeed the world's most fearsome fighting team. But what if there's a little bit of Shredder in all of us?
Filled with such musings, I completed my mission. I'd delivered the prescription to Ms C, who was very thankful. I removed my face covering. I'd confronted the cartoon supervillain within. Cowabunga, dudes.
