Helping Ms H have a Purr-fect Birthday
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Sheffield.
- Friday, 14th of June 2019
Caroline and I met up this morning to complete a mission for Ms H. After getting a bit lost on the ring roads of Sheffield, we arrived and were greeted warmly. Having quickly come to an agreement with Ms H that it wasn't a good idea to mow the lawn (the weather's just been too wet - it wasn't safe!), we decided to weed her patio and tackle bits of the long grass with shears instead. After a little while, it was clear that we were making some progress, though without the lawn mower it was clear we wouldn't be able to get the grass down to an acceptable level.
We stopped for a break after an hour's work and chatted to Ms H while we had some tea and biscuits, and she mentioned it was her birthday! Caroline and I were incentivised to work a little bit harder so she could have a nice-looking garden as a present. Her cat, Tony, decided to join us on this little break also - sniffing around our bags of grass cuttings and generally being quite cute.
Another half an hour's work later and we were done for the day, having made a considerable difference to the outdoor space. Wishing Ms H a final happy birthday after washing hands and downing tools, we returned home.
