Change of plans tonight, as 11 GG volunteers ran 5km to help move stock at a local food bank (instead of gardening at the care home)
With a slightly longer than usual run ahead of us, we split into two groups. Dave lead the speedy group, while I took the slower group - although both groups arrived at the same time in the end thanks to our cheeky short cut through the cemetery.
Marushka and Latoya were in my team. We took an accidental uphill route at the start to really get the blood pumping - but we later made up for it through the grave yard, so it was all good!
When we got to the Selby Centre, I called Femi to come outside and meet us. He showed us the container we had to move some stock too and then walked us through the community centre to get inside the food bank where we had to move things.
The Food Bank was really well stocked today, which was wonderful. There were stacks of trays full of cans and pasta blocking the door, so task one was shifting them out of the way so we could open the door and move them to the container outside.
Within 25 minutes, we've moved everything on the list (and done a mini workout). Fast work. Femi was dead impressed!
We then had a quick drink, took a quick photo and said our goodbyes - but not before some Haringey High Fives.
We then ran back to base, with a few Run-Backs along the way - where the front of the pack runs to the back of the pack and then back to me. With these, plus the extra 0.5km Dave's group did on the way there, some people probably did closer to 6km today than 5. Bonus!
Back at base we had some stretching and some more high fives - plus Julie brought us cake to celebrate her getting to 50 GOOD DEEDS She definitely deserves some cheers for that! Go, go, go!
