Goodgym x The Great Get Together - Stroll and a sing-song

As part of Goodgym x The Great Get Together 8 GG Yorkies ran, cycled and endured the York ring road to take the residents of Hartrigg Oaks for an evening stroll.

We arrived to be greeted by a familiar group of 6 regular residents, eager to enjoy some fresh air and dodge the current June downpours. Since there were a few more of us than usual Tracey soon found another willing volunteer in Roy and the team was ready to roll.

Today was Margaret's birthday, we all wished her a very happy birthday and Tracey told us about the delicious, cream filled, cake they had made. A huge part of our regular missions to Hartrigg has been getting to know the residents, hear their stories and share our interests. They're often keen to tell us about their families and lives in York and today was no exception. We were delighted to get the opportunity to meet Roy's wife Janet who still lives in the bungalow they shared for 20 years. Janet was somewhat confused when a large group of GG Yorkies tuned up on her door step, accompanied by friends and familiar faces but it was fun to say hello and a lovely opportunity for Roy to introduce us.

When we got back we took everyone into the lounge and Becky played the piano, with the promise of more of a sing-song next time. Perhaps a Christmas carol singing mission should also be on the cards.
