We loved our introduction to Arc in the park last week, so much so, we returned this week.

After a rather speedy 25min run to the site, we entered the gates to a playground that was bathed in brightness under the floodlights. Think Batman beacon in the sky: well that’s what the floodlights at Arc in the park are to the local kids.

Our task this week was to apply a thin coat of varnish to all the murals across the playground. Exposed to the harsh British weather 24/7 takes its toll, and some of the pieces had started to peel. Our reputation for handy work with paint brushes has gathered pace lately, so we were perfect for the job.

We partnered up, grabbed some tools and scattered. Like a bat out of hell some of the team scuttled eagerly to the higher levels of the playground frame whilst others covered ground level (Andy I can safely say we needed your reach to cover several of these murals, you were missed)

A good 11 murals later and it was time to make a move, shorter running strides was the task for the return journey in a bid to hit 180bpm with each stride….extremely efficient as it happens, but also an extremely unusual feeling for any long loping striders out there. Shorter strides + quick feet + speed bursts = A buzzing run back to the park.

Same time next week

In the words of one of the murals…

’Stand proud, remember your roots, go out on a limb’

Kirsty
