Timebuilders have stopped all their usual work and are instead responding to the situation by running a flour project as well as providing food parcels. They are running out of St Mary's Church on Bramall Lane and have various collection points in the city (in S10 and S11).
Flour was really hard to get hold of which started the project and although flour is back on the shop shelves, they are still bagging up 2.5kg sacks of high quality, locally milled flour for the people of Sheffield and selling it at wholesale prices and asking for a donation to support the food parcel work. Demand hasn't stopped as yet.
I was bagging the flour for sale with a lovely volunteer who was also in need of more to do at this time. We also gave a hand packing food parcels which are being distributed by volunteers from Age UK.
To buy your flour and see what is happening, see www.breadforsheffield.org. Flour is between £2 and £3.50. They also sell yeast.
