Flight club
7 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Brighton.
- Tuesday, 25th of August 2020
- Led by Tabitha Hrynick
After variously fighting or riding the wind to central Hove from our various corners of town , 7 GoodGymers climbed up 45 flights of stairs to reach all 9 floors of 5 tower blocks to deliver leaflets for the Brighton Cooking Club (and we absolutely, positively, definitely never used the lifts!!). The BCC is a brilliant community-based initiative which emerged during the COVID-19 lockdown to support people with access to nutritious, home-cooked meals. The project has continued in the post-lockdown era, linking people who struggle to afford, access or cook nutritious food for themselves and their families for any reason, with volunteers across the city who donate ingredients, cook, and/or transport meals.
After tackling a first block together, we split up into two teams and raced to leaflet the remaining four - although David, Rosie and Tabitha did need a bit of help to finish off that last, slightly trickier one - thanks Juliet, Roy, Jacob and Paul for coming to the rescue!
We'll be back out to deliver more leaflets again soon, and hope you'll join us for some more stair mastering at Ingram Crescent.
If you'd like to donate a bit of your time to BCC, or could use some support, call the BCC at 01273855874, or visit [https://www.brightoncookingclub.com/]!
