(Flat)-Packing Them In - The Return
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Friday, 28th of May 2021
On a less blustery, wet day than last week, Sallyann and Matthew went to P's flat to finish off the work we started last Friday, constructing flat pack furniture for her to put her clothes in. Last week we spent all of the time putting together a dining table and chairs. This week we started with what Matthew thought would be the more difficult task of putting together the wardrobe but it was the chest of drawers that took longer. Having both agreed that we wanted to get the job done we stayed a little longer and it was immensely satisfying to finish the task, and we made surprisingly few mistakes and the furniture we still standing by the time we left. P had had the flatpack furniture since the start of the year and so she was chuffed that we had finished. We even managed to take the rubbish away from her flat for carers to dispose of.
A lovely lady in need of help and we would like to think that this was Good Gym at its best, namely helping vulnerable people in the community with tasks they would never be able to do themselves and of course at no charge. If anyone is out there wanting to do good in the community then please check out Good Gym and join us in making this world a kinder and more connected place.

The sense of achievement at the end was such a reward. I learnt a lot from Matt who has much more experience than me and with good team work and a determination to complete the task we finished.
P had waited almost 6 months for this so glad we were able to help
Well done, Mat and Sallyann. This is very impressive!
