Five hard-working runners ran to Broomfield Hospital to plant at the Sunken Garden
After a very quick meet up at ARU, David, Rachel and Laurie set off to Broomfield Hospital together, bright and early on Monday morning.
We were greeted by David and Richard at Broomfield, and shortly after we arrived, Joel and Catherine joined us. We started off setting out plants along the edge, which Richard proceeded to tidy up. We quickly got them in their right places, and so Richard and our David went to get some more plants. David was thoroughly disappointed that he wasn't allowed to drive the John Deere vehicle, instead having to walk alongside. Once they were back, we were able to plant geraniums and roses. After a couple of hours effort we decided it was time to leave. David and Laurie took Joel for the run back. After Joel leaving part way, we struggled back home to a well earned lunch (and sticky toffee pudding this evening!)
Big thanks to everyone who has been involved in this project along the way. The Sunken Garden is completely transformed from what it was last year, and we can't wait to see it in bloom next year.
See you on Wednesday for Broomfield Allotments, or Thursday for the social!
