First Past The Bedpost
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Friday, 13th of December 2019
On a gloomy Friday morning, two GoodGym runners made it out nice and early to help Mr G with an issue in his home.
We arrived at his home and had a quick chat; Mr G is awaiting the delivery of a new reclining chair which will hopefully help with his back pain, but before that could be delivered, the old one needed shifting out of the way. Surrounding us were shelves and shelves of videos and books, and Mr G told us about his experience working with the occult - very interesting!
With the help of one of the hospital team, we tried shifting the chair over a hospital bed and through the door - no joy. A narrow doorframe and a bulky chair were not compatible, so we went with the backup plan, lifted it back over the bed and managed to leave it out on his balcony.
We then bade Mr G adieu and headed off. It was a simple mission; completed within 45 minutes, and convenient enough for Jacqueline and I . But it was also a really welcome reminder on this of all mornings that, as grim as things might be, we can still help others and everyone can get a lot out of that.

Certainly brightened up my day! Thanks Dom.
A great mission to remind everyone there are still GoodGymers in the world doing good things. Thank you both!
