First cut is the deepest
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Sheffield.
- Sunday, 6th of May 2018
Steve and I met at 10am on the roasting hot morning after our pub plogging social. Steve had actually been to this mission last weekend but it was far too wet to attempt to mow the lawn, luckily the bank holiday sunshine had sorted things out and we were actually able to help Mr T.
The lawn was incredibly long, dense and springy with quite a bit of moss in it so we got a proper arm work out and had to fill sacks upon sacks of clippings. Fortunately for us Kim arrived so we were 50% more efficient (she thought the mission started at 10:30!)
We took it in turns mowing, holding the cable and gathering grass. There kept being annoying tufty bits that we had to go back for. Steve said it reminded him of trying to shave his beard but said we wouldn't be able to relate to that anology, to which Kim replied about the struggles of hairy knees.
Had a fair amount of jokes about engineers whilst weeding.
Q) What do you call a particularly polite engineer?
A) A civil engineer!
Used the smaller mower without the box on the smaller lawn which is a pretty bad idea for someone with hayfever. Forgot to take an after photo of the beautiful (kinda brown but relatively even) lawn but did get a selfie with all our sacks of grass.
Mr T was delighted and said we are welcome back any time!
