1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Birmingham.

This mission couldn’t really have gone better or at a better time. After a lot of runs this week, I was lacking motivation and probably wouldn’t have gone out at all if it wasn’t for the pressure to help Miss G. This was the closest mission that there has been to my home, so I set off for a one mile run with lots of uphill. I met up with Miss G and was invited in to do the first task, which was to change the lightbulb on the landing. Fortunately, it was just about in reach but I realised the sick humour of electricians when they install lights, as you have to lean slightly over the stairs in a precarious way. Thankfully, there was no drama and I set off for the second part of the mission. I had checked at the local shop on the way up to see if they sell stamps, so I ran there to pick up a book of 6. Miss G, who has been shielding for most of the year, was so grateful as she sent me off with the money, she said that she wanted me to keep the change and donate it to the charity. However, I explained that the help that we give is not a one way street - not only do I feel good by helping, I also get motivation to exercise from her request for help. So I ran a little loop down to the shop and got my hill training again on the way back. Miss G said that now they felt safer at home with the light working and her sister will get a Christmas card now thanks to the stamps. After wishing each other a Happy Christmas, I ran back home the long way through the park.
