Fence me that hammer 🔨 and we’ll nail this mission!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Kingston upon Thames.

Gosia and I arrived feeling warmed up and ready to pick up tools after our quick half hour runs when we met at Mrs D’s house for our mission. 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
Mrs D needed a hand fixing her fence as some planks had fallen off and the fence had fallen over in the wind. She was not able to fix it herself due to her health. We quickly devised a plan of action for covering the gaps in the fence with wood planks, panels of dry wall bits, strips of flooring and other spare bits that had been gathered for us. We were able to create a unique-looking patch work fence by the time the job was done.
Some pieces of wood, blocks and other materials were thicker and trickier to nail through than they had first appeared and required patience and determination. You wood be surprised by how much more challenging it was than it had first seemed!
“Don’t be so happy! You need to let out some anger to get the nail in!” Gosia advised. “Try to look like you’re having fun,” I added in response to her determined and focused expression! While one held the planks and materials in place, the other hammered away until it was time to swap. I was a bit concerned about my hammering skills being so hit-and-miss but in our de-fence, after an hour and a half since we’d finished our run, the temperature at -1 ❄️ had left us with the added challenge of numb fingers! ✋🏻Our perseverance was rewarded with the satisfaction of the completed task as we stepped back to admire our work before heading off to run for a hot drink!
We were happy to help make Mrs D's home safer by securing the property in closing off the gap in her fence which lead to her front door. Mission accomplished! We nailed it!
