Enjoying the craic at the 2017 Dublin Marathon
3 GoodGymers made their way in a race in Cardiff.
- Sunday, 29th of October 2017
- Led by Benjamin Annear
Ben, Stephen and Laura all participated in the 2017 SSE Dublin Marathon and what a top of the morning day it was - I be telling ya!
Ben visited the Expo on Friday picking up his race number. He listened to a talk about motivational running and also visited many of the stalls sampling the free products - Check out some of the photos from the expo.
Race Day
Laura, Lucy and Ben all had breakfast together at 7.15am. Lucy was our valuable spectator and support for the race, making sure we didn't slow down and that we sustained good momentum.
After breakfast we all headed into Dublin centre - It was grand! The weather was beautiful and the absence of traffic meant we could park only a short walk from the start. On the way to the start we met Stephen and his supporters (His parents - they were both really lovely!).
After a quick photo and introductions (see photos above) we headed to our starting pens.
Welcome to the Dublin Marathon. Good Luck Runners! Now GO!
We all set off at our own paces.
Ben and Stephen were both trying to set new PB's and Laura was planning to beat last year's time.
Well done to all!
Now obviously the run was longer than that. There was pain, sweat, mental games and in 26.2 miles of pure challenge.
Ben set a new PB of 3 hours 13 minutes and 29 seconds Stephen also set a new PB and Laura beat last year's time! - This meant drinks all round! :D
Well done to everyone who took part and Lucy and Stephen's parents for their support! It was an epic race and awesome day and I hope to run with you again soon. 🏃👍
