Eggstreme Diversion
8 GoodGymers made their way to help the Acton Junior parkrun in Ealing.

We had 7 GoodGymers on the Acton Juniors parkrun roster this morning, plus one surprise addition, Pippa who'd signed up on the GoodGym site at the last minute. Melted pools of chocolate eggs (or was it mud) on the course meant a change to the normal layout to avoid running across the grass. Using the so called Wet layout on such a beautiful Sunday morning felt a bit off. However the rascals who left the pile of chocolate eggs in the funnel weren't aware of the chaos they'd caused.
A few minutes before the start, there were no children present. Something that's become quite common recently. As 9am neared, the runners started to appear and once the warm up was complete, we had 21 young athletes at the start line.
The change to the course meant that the runners needed to climb up the Acton Park hill twice. To compensate for the extra effort needed, our marshals on duty, Harvey, Sevan, Divya and Joanna cheered extra hard to power the children towards the finish. At the line, Pippa, Florian and Kash were waiting to fire them through the funnel and record their times, while Chikako helped a visually impaired runner around the course at the VI Guide.
As a reward for leaving their Easter eggs at home and coming to run around the park, the children (and volunteers) were given even more chocolate eggs (not melted), so everyone left happy.
