Are You Bready for Dove?
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Ealing.
- Thursday, 2nd of April 2020
Bright and early on Thursday morning, I started my day with a mission for Mr B and his wife. The shopping list today comprised of a light load - only a lot of potatoes, pints milk, cans of cat food... ‘Good luck with carrying all that on your pushbike’ Mr B chuckled to me as I left. Challenge accepted.
I cycled up the hill to the Co-op, and managed to tick a fair few bits off the list, before trying my luck at Sainsbury’s and then a local garage. Safe to say, it was a mistake buying 6 pints of milk in the first shop (but hey, it’s all about doing good and getting fit right?). Unfortunately, South Ealing didn’t deliver on all the items from Mr B’s list. Egg-cellent if you like chocolate eggs, not so good if you’re looking for the hen variety. If your cat doesn’t like fishy food, you won’t be feline fine. Want unsliced bread? That’s bloomer-ing bad luck. However, I was able to source some of the more sacred items - toilet paper AND hand wash. Super loo-per work, I just soap-ed Mr B wouldn’t mind the missing items.
It tricky wobble down the hill back to Mr B’s flat, but I had succeeded in my mission. Shopping done. Didn’t fall of my bike. Mr B was so pleased to have some shopping (apparently it’s a 4 week wait for an online shopping delivery!! He had one arranged a fortnight ago, but earliest slot was on the 14th April!). A successful morning for me, and it wasn’t even time to start work yet!
