Double Curtain Call

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.

I was already in the area so it was a very brief jog up the road from Well Street Common to Mrs P's flat to help fix her curtain rail and put the curtain back up.

She had put up the curtain rail herself over 20 years ago and it really had stood the test of time, but a few weeks back one half of it had slipped out of the fixture and the curtain had fallen off leaving the room bathed in light throughout the day.

She was keen to address this and I quickly scarpered up the mini ladder, re-threaded the curtain back on the rail and slotted it all into place and we both gave it a couple of test runs to ensure it was all working again. Hopefully it will serve her well for another 20 years!

It just so happened that the only other task she wanted help with was reattaching some curtain hooks in another room which was also very straightforward fortunately.

Before I departed she regaled me with a few stories of some of her disused railway urban exploration adventures with some fascinating insights into stations and lines that no longer exist all over London.

I didn't take any photos, so illustrative image from google sorry!
