Cator Park in Bromley hosted a heartwarmingly successful Pride Picnic on Saturday, building on the popularity of last year’s event and once again supported by GoodGym runners. Linda kept busy all afternoon helping on stalls and selling refreshments – including homemade cakes in all colours of the rainbow – with the money raised going towards funds used by the Friends of the Park for their environmental projects. Then Hannah, Claire and Stephen arrived in good time to soak up the atmosphere and help with the hard work of clearing up.
We got to show off our efficient gazebo-dismantling teamwork and we put in some nifty legwork transporting tables and equipment back to the Friends’ storage container. The organisers took great care over making this event as eco-friendly as possible by reusing resources, avoiding waste and making sure no litter was left behind – and we even carried supplies of unused drinking water across the park so that it could be poured onto raised beds to benefit thirsty plants.
