A return trip to the sunken garden at Broomfield Hospital was our task tonight. We set off from Anglia Ruskin Uni after our warm up of a series of exercises to wake up muscles and loosen joints ready for the 4k run. David and James G set the pace with Richard *back marking. Our route was a new one for me as previous tasks a new route was found off the main road which included a trail and a churchyard, much more to my liking. *Richard *and *David the task owners met us at the garden with Catherine not far behind us, arrived as well. David then gave us the "Green Flag Award 2018/192 flag to unfurl, this is a prestigious award that Richard and David are very proud of and well deserved, we are so pleased that we have played a part in them achieving it. "The Green Flag Award® scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world".
The task was to rake over the top soil and break it up as much as we could, there were also some bushes that needed digging out as well, the team was split into two and work began. This is the final stretch for this garden as the next part will be metal furniture put in place for climbing plants and planting over the next few weeks, victory is in sight! We Will be back in two weeks to help out again. Time flew with all the digging and soon it seemed that we had to head back to the Uni with Laurie taking us on a mystery tour through the car park and a nice wooded trail run back to the church.
Arriving at the uni we started our 'warm down' or is it 'cool down' that could be a debate. Time also to congratulate James C for his 50th run tonight and he has also booked for next year his very first half marathon in Swansea, great work James.
