Merry Christmas one and all! It was a wonderful night for a final GoodGym run of 2017, and our group of 16 runners - including a very welcome newcomer & Mile End Parkrunner Manuel - headed to Hollybush Gardens for some bulb planting. There were some fantastic costumes on show, from reindeer antlers, to Christmas earrings & even Father Christmas joined us in doing good this evening - he can't get enough of it!
We split into groups of three planting digging troughs and planting flower bulbs. We completed this first part of the task in no time with our enthusiastic group - so quickly that we had enough time to hop over to Rocky Park for some weeding, sweeping and some more bulb planting. Despite the cold, we did an amazing job in helping the task owners, who have a very busy Christmas, creating hampers and cooking dinners for isolated residents in the area. A fantastic cause in the festive season.
After the tasks we warmed up again by touring the local area to see the Christmas lights. Check out the wonderful photos of the Victoria Park Christmas Tree Village and the amazing decorations on Old Ford Road.
Tonight was my last task as trainer and it has been an absolute pleasure leading the group. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2018!
