A second shopping trip for John, and, after one or two mechanical difficulties, everything went smoothly.
My morning had started well, but a (usually) 20 minute puncture repair turned into an hour, which turned into my mountain bike being abandoned in favour of my lighter, faster, but not as practical, road bike. I reached John's flat in record time, where he, too, had been having a trying morning. Not only had he abandoned his crossword after making two mistakes and having to go over them, he too, had experienced technical difficulties, of the modelling kind. He had just had to take apart the model engine that he has been building during lockdown, and was ready for a break...I knew that feeling!
The ride to Asda was all downhill...my favourite direction (just for future reference, Char) and the shopping was soon done. However, there was so much of it, that I had to push my bike back up the hill, with the bags hanging from my handlebars.
John was pleased to get his week's shopping, and was ready to tackle the engine again. I, on the other hand, had decided to hand my puncture problem over to an expert...
The ride home was fast, downhill, and exhilarating! A great way to start the day!
