Beautiful weather, beautiful people, and some amazing running - what a way to spend a Wednesday evening!
We had loads to celebrate last night, including welcoming two great new runners to the gang. Say hello to Suzi and to Kate who both came for their first group run last night - give them a cheer!
We also gave Beth a well-deserved round of applause for reaching a massive milestone last night - she has run 100 times to good in her local communities. That shows huge commitment and we tip our hats to her general marvelousness. We shall also celebrate with cake! This comes off the back of smashing the Brighton marathon on Sunday. Can anything stop this woman?! Way to go Beth!
Speaking of marathons, we wish Will the best of luck from his GG Hounslow fam for this weekend when he will be taking on London's streets in a battle of wills and thighs. Look out for the famous neon shorts if you're going down to cheer the marathon this weekend!
With inspiration from the glorious weather, we asked ourselves what is the best thing to put on the BBQ as we were doing our warm up last night. Votes came in for corn on the cob, really big prawns, marshmallows, all the meats, halloumi and so much more, so with a rumbles in our tummies, we set off for our task tonight at Ealing Baptist Church.
This organisation, run by the pastor Roger, doubles up as a drop in shelter for the homeless, and gives clothes and food to the local community. Roger works tirelessly for others, but needs a hand getting his many jobs done. Step up GoodGym! Our tasks tonight involved cleaning, moving chairs and sorting donations, and with so many hands on deck (we scooped up Dave on the way) we got it all done in no time.
It was such a lovely evening that we decided to lengthen our run home and take a nice river route. Sadly this was at the expense of our fitness session, but it was beautiful with the backdrop of a gorgeous sunset. Unfortunately it did mean running past a number of tantilising pubs, which we bravely resisted. There were a few stops though to knock out some different exercises, and even one small pause to sing Beth a happy 100th deed song.
Before long we were back at the Town Hall with a nice 7k under our belt, glistening faces and big smiles knowing that our workout and our good deed was done. Next week we have a short run and you know what that means - lots of lovely fitness! Sign up here to lend a hand to a local school.
