Can I have a top-up shop peas?
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.

What better way to end the week than with another mission for Mrs M. At 6pm on Friday evening I headed over to Mrs M's flat to collect her shopping list. We quickly chatted about her neighbours (they had still been causing her lots of trouble this week) before I was on my way. Today's list was a little different to usual - far less fruit and veg, and instead I was on the hunt for lots of staples. Soya milk, salt, vinegars, cooking oils, savoury seasoning and crackers were quickly ticked off the list. Mrs M still requested a few fresh items; sweet potatoes, beetroot and lettuce. After scouring Tesco, I was missing fish sauce, celery, one more packet of crackers, and my favourite item - frozen peas. Mrs M explained to me that these were not in fact for eating, but instead to help manage the swelling after her operation. This made me chuckle, as many of us goodgymers can relate to the bag of 'injury peas' that most runners have hiding in their freezer! Sainsbury's thankfully had all of the remaining items, so I was able to return to Mrs M with everything she had asked for. I wished her well with her operation, and as a treat Mrs M insisted that I take home some fresh-out-of-the-oven sweet red bean buns with me as a thank you for helping her so much over the last few months. Despite my protest that I volunteer in order to help people and not to be given anything in return, Mrs M would not let me leave without them. I must say they tasted rather lovely - thank you Mrs M!
